Post tapping heard after changing injectors

this sounds like a really loud valve tap. It just appeared after putting new injectors in. I have absolutely no idea how this could have happened.??

Weird. Could it be from a new injector? If you can get a metal bar or something to hold between your ear and where the tapping's coming from ( to act like a stethescope) you may be able to isolate the noise.
BTW: did the car seem to run any differently after changing the injectors? What prompted you to do so in the first place?

jlex.

Kurt,

You had to take the A/C compressor (and a few other things) loose to get at the fuel rails, right? Are you SURE the compressor is snug, and not wiggling around a bit?

Car was running really rough, I figured it was the injectors. It does seem to be a lot better now, but how can I tell with the tapping.

The AC and all that is permanently gone. There's nothing loose to be tapping. The tapping is very loud at idle, and picks up with RPM. At high RPM you cannot hear it, but it TAP TAP TAPs at idle, then it
just picks up and gets quiety.

If I dropped a washer in a head (I accounted for all of them, but what if something fell in a head) would it tap like that?
What does it sounds like if you drop something small in the head?

I ordered injector seals with the injectors. But, the injectors out of the box, already had oring seals. So I had two sets. This doesn't make sense. The ones that came on the injectors were a little bit, slightly thinner, so I took the ones that came with them off and put the lower o-ring seals (that go into engine) that were beefier on instead. I guess it could be a leak. If they didn't seal right, I assume I'd smell gas, but maybe I'd just hear all that tapping?
I haven't a clue.
So, now that I've thrown the 'seal' issue out there, maybe that's the problem. I'll have to take it all off tonight and do it again, which sucks, but then again I always, always f everything up the first time I do it.
