I'm just about ready when I get the parts to install a header system. The more I read about headers with heat, I keep thinking I might better to just install headers without and wear more clothes in the winter.

UPDATE!
I built a line last night and got it running. For the oil cooler to oil tank line, I bought some 1" copper pipe fittings from home depot and made my own line. I used one of the rubber elbows from the original line, and I think that should be enough to prevent the copper from cracking. The part I'm worried about is the oil tank connection (not enough pipe to clamp to), so I'll be checking it a few times in the next couple of days to make sure it's not working loose. If it lasts I'll try to take some pictures to show more clearly what I did. The backdate line was cooperative and didn't kink when I put it on this time... I'm still not sure what was different before. The sound is pretty sweet, aggressive but not too loud for the neighbors or too annoying for a long drive. Craig and Kevin - Thanks so much for your help! I owe you guys a beer! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif Rob, I apologize for sounding so discouraging before. Looking back, the hassle *might* have actually been worth it. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but the car has really been transformed. |
Excellent, remember there is no pressure on that line so I think you will be just fine.

Thanks for the link.
My homemade S hose drips a bit from the oil tank connection, so I'm going to try again to have something more professional made. I've finally found a shop that seems up to the task. Interestingly, on my set of headers the pipes leading up to the collector seem to be located higher and farther inwards than Jack's and Jeremy's. |
