3.6 project gets a tiny bit of attention

I'm hoping to get this sucker running real soon (hampered right now by the DOA fuel pump that will need replacement)... thought I'd share the madness for all those who love the down-n'-dirty project threads...

I've set up test wiring so I can see if the motor will run which explains the rat's nest in the cabin. Up front I've wired in the "real" wires for the front section of the harness. Blue sea systems terminal blocks, fully tinned wire, and adhesive lined crimp and solder terminals make for some nice eye candy up front. Once the motor works I'll finish the nice wiring elsewhere.

The I-squared system in the cabin replaces the relays in the wiring harness and handles all the power management. The remote box lets you wire in low power switches for any circuit and program them by linking wires. I'll link it to the keyed ignition and a start button.

The dash lights up with a nice green glow (too bad the flash washed it out)...though I haven't tried programming it yet.

Ohhh yeah - I finally installed the billet door handle things. They are pretty fancy, and totally unnecessary. They do solve the problems I had before with the plastic guys falling off all the time though.

Anyone care to point me to the right hose to replace the bottle serving breather duty (to connect to the '95 993 intake)? Thanks!

Hi Cali 74

Nice project - you will love it once its back to life.

I ran my oil system sealed for the first year of my 3.6 cos I didnt know any better - if you attach the hose from the back on the intake to the oil tank you will do the same. This is because you have lost the air box which is where the oil tank used to vent to.

This year I fitted an oil catch tank(lots of threads on here about that) and I think its a lot better - its reduced crankcase pressure and I have less moisture buildup in the oil which is another score.

I have a few pics of the catch tank on my picasa album online.

Good luck with the rest of the mission.

If I use a breather can, what should I do with the intake inlet area - does it need to be blocked off? and if so, what's the best way to do so?

Thanks!

I just raided a local hardware store - a door stopper was just the right size and very cheap so I used that.
