Carrera Floats. not good...
Tuesday night we had over 6.5 inches of rain in a 2 hour period. A total of over 10.7 inches fell in less than 24 hours here. While our house & cars are alright (our house is elevated pretty well from our lot) and although we had deep water in the yard, nothing like this poor fellow did as his brand new Carrera was washed away from his townhouse parking lot and into a drainage canal.
http://www.ktbs.com/news/Porsches-last-ride-12059/ If you look to the right at the "Featured video" menu, scroll down until you get to "Tim Fletcher at Normandy Village" to see the video. You can see the car about 3/4 of the way through the video. (right now on p.3 of the videos) The sad thing is that the car was gone yesterday morning! The water had swept it about another 1/2 mile downstream in the concrete drainage canal. This one isn't going to "buff right out"...The irony is that the owner was out of town and saw it on TV. He thought it was his NEIGHBOR'S 911 and called him, but alas, it was his own. ![]() ***EDIT*** If you now click on the story, there is a video on the recovery of the car from the canal.
