915 to 930 transaxle swap - what is needed?

Ive purchased a short bell housing 930 transaxle to put into a 72 911. When the transaxle was rebuilt I had 911 axle flanges put on. I know I need a new shifter ( hargett is what Im hoping to put in ). Is there anything else needed to make this work? I dont have a pressure plate clutch, so new ones will be ordered.

Why are you putting a 4 speed in a NA '72?

transaxle swap

Im putting in a 930 transaxle because its the car is getting a 450hp ls1 aluminum small block. Thats a lot of hp\torque for a 915 transaxle.

I needed a transaxle anyways so I went for one more suited for the application.

i have a sbc in my 71 911 coupe with a 930 short bell transmission. i had to modify the transmission support to properly line up with the front mounting points. i have aluminum trailing arms and use carrera axles. i have almost 600 chp and use a kennedy engineered products stage 2 clutch and pressure plate. i also have a hargett shifter.

couple of other items

i also had to modify the rear passenger area tunnel as the nose of the 930 is much larger than the 915. i beleve that i had to modify the rear brake line at the junction block as well as pass the left rear brake line up and over the transmission. i have the motor put of the car to add mass flo efi and thiswill require a larger supply line for gas as well as the return line to the tank. all this exits the body in the nose area of the transmission and space gets tight. when i modified the rear seat area i mounted a large mocal oil cooler in the passenger seat well with venting to beneath the car. cooling air is supplied by a naca duct in the quarter window with 2 three inch hoses. as a note, the engine is a dart all aluminum sbc roller engine with 434 cubic inches and forged internals. engine weighs 400 pounds and dynoed at 585 chp. pic is of the engine with carburetor..

A hint:

Use Carrera halfshafts instead of 911. They have same CV diameter as 930 CV's and are much cheaper to buy. They are also stronger than 911 halfshafts. That also means you can re-use 930 flanges which are also bigger.

What's the point of fitting SBC V8 and strong transmission if you are going to shear off halfshafts like toothpicks?

Carrera halfshafts (one piece CV's):

I still have the 930 flanges, however I thought it was easier \ cheaper to put in 915 flanges so i could use the axles I had, maybe a bad choice. The car has the rear seat pan out, so I dont think clearance is a issue, I need a shifter, that I know. Since no one chimed in, I dont think I will be surprised at needing any other parts.

the radiator is located in the front. leaned to the rear at a 45 degree angle with two 14 inch spal fans. radiator is enclosed and the air exits beneath the car. an opening to match the bumper opening is cut into the front latch panel, easy to reverse if one ever wished to go back to original,

Have you done the corner balance? How is the weight distribution?
Thank you,

Doug

the first corner balnce when i had a steel block sbc was 60/40 with driver weight added to the car. i have not corner balnced since installing the all aluminum motor which is 105 pounds lighter. the radiator hoses run down either side of the floor pan in the same area that porsche used for oil lines to the front cooler. i do not have any pictures of that, but they are up and put of harms way.
