Carrera Script My Car...please

I want to put the Carrera script on the car but am not sure what color (black sounds so regular). And what should I do with the wheels?
Any Photoshop experts out there willing to help? Thanks.

IMO, think black would look best w/ the red.

White second.

Green for Christmas time.

tmsautoart 05-21-2008 07:56 AM

black is my professional artistic opinion.

gerrygug 05-21-2008 08:02 AM

Red and Black are classic. The wheels look fine to me.

Gogar 05-21-2008 08:03 AM

Your car looks great. Leave it.

That way you won't have to answer to the "Carrera script on an SC? No no no!" folks.

edit: But, I too think black would be great.

Zeke 05-21-2008 08:05 AM

If you would like to change the color of the wheels (I like what I see), then the script should be the same color. No a lot of options for a red car, IMHO. I've seen blue, but that's pretty dicey. Maybe a midnight blue.

He needs the script. We already have a red duck up here without the script. It must be set apart from the other one. :)

I say black script with the black wheels.

tcar 05-21-2008 08:25 AM

Anyone make a black "Super Carrera" script? That would be 'different'. :)

N11Porsche 05-21-2008 08:38 AM

I'm with Gogar, why put "Carrera" script on a non-Carrera Porsche. Great-looking Porsche just the way it is......

but if you must---black script. Wheels look nice.

Why do anything at all to a stock Porsche? Why install Euro H-4s? Why install a ducktail? Why install 8" or 9" Fuchs? Why install aftermarket suspension? Why lower the car? Etc., Etc., Etc. (All those appear to have been done to this car)

If you like a look for YOUR car, then why not do it? Most of us do mods because we want to either make the car better or just personalize it. Yes, the Carrera script originally came on the Carrera, but it has been installed on so many other cars, it has just become a "look" not a "look alike".

JayG 05-21-2008 10:30 AM

Get the "Porsche" script in like a matte black. That would stand out and wouldn't get the poser comments. Thats what I plan on doing with my yellow car.

msterling 05-21-2008 10:44 AM

Hmmm... Gold. Really. I love the gold-on-red look on hot cars. I know I've seen it on 356's and early 911's for the metal badges. Maybe change them to match the new side scripts.

Or not! You should do what you like and not necessarily what is "correct".

+1 on the black to go with the black Fuchs......or silver/scotchbrite the petals on the Fuchs and put a silver/gray decal on it

PSportoVeloce 05-21-2008 11:35 AM

here's an alternative to black. pretty much matches what was described above.

berettafan 05-21-2008 11:37 AM

man that's a sharp looking car as it sits!

PSportoVeloce 05-21-2008 11:39 AM

I don't understand these poseur comments. I've heard that "SC" stands for "Super Carrera". besides, if you look at what the 1974-1977 Carrera 2.7/3.0's were and the Carrera 3.2, then the SC fits into the model of what a Carrera is, regardless of whether it was actually called a Carrera or not. Just do what pleases you; it's your car.

FenderBender 05-21-2008 04:34 PM

This SC script in this thread is pretty Cool. IMHO

Gogar 05-21-2008 05:16 PM

Just to keep you guys jabbering, I wanted to remind you all that a FEW people think SC stands for

"Sub-Carrera"

or is it, "Sorta-Carrera"?

Oh no, wait. It's "Slow Car", right?

Oh geez I better shut up; I have one. Whoops.

I think silver looks pretty good, but only with chrome trim and/or anodized or polished wheels. maybe even chrome headlight trim. Foor Poorsha I'm stickin with my black vote.

Excellence- August 2007

Poorsha;
If you can get your hands on a copy of Excellence August 2007 check out the long hood on page 104-108. It's a '73 RS that was originally speced out for Ferry Porsche. It was his personal car. The Carrera lettering was painted on using a screen of the original color Silver Green Diamond Metallic. If you can find a painter that understands under tinting utilizing grey and a complimentry shade of red mixed together and also knew how to really work an air brush your SC could really rock. The Guards Red is a stand out color and an understated but elegant Carrera Script would simply enhance the looks of an already great looking car. The wheels? IMHO- change nothing.

Doggone it, I was going to jump in and say something similar. But, it would be "Semi Carrera".....:p

Joe Bob 05-21-2008 06:12 PM

REAL Carreras were the ones that were the top of the heap.....in the 80s, Porsche was hurting and needed a boost so they threw the Carrera name under the bus.

Most people realize this and simply use the name on the sides of cars that deserve the name. The plain Jane 3.2s kind of don't......

As to the SC debate? Who cares? Call it what ya wants and go out and drive the thing....

SCWDP911 05-21-2008 06:56 PM

uhh... ah, nevermind...

poorsha 05-21-2008 07:41 PM

Thanks all for the great responses.
I really like the silver but agree it looks better with the bright finish.
What about a different shade of red? A more suttle approach.
As for the wheels, I will definately keep the Fuchs but was thinking about polishing the petals.
Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.
I would go for a drive to think this through but it is (I almost hate to say this) raining. :)

I think the Carrera graphics are too overdone, especially if there is not much engine to back it up. JMHO

It shows you have your own identity and indiviadual thoughts.

I like the clean look.

Red with Silver stripes and a duck looks pretty good to me - but then I am biased.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...u/IMG_0893.jpg

You don't need silver brightwork or headlamp surrounds, just silver centred wheels. Forget black wheels, you can't see all the details of the wheel which is what makes Fuchs look unique and special. Light centres also "grow" the wheel. I have had died in the wool 911 guys ask me if these are 17 inch wheels - no, just 16s.

Flieger, can you tell me where I can get the front windshield Porsche decal? I have been looking everywhere for one but have not found one as good looking as the one on your 911. Thanks Meka

911-32, I just noticed you have the same front windshield Porsche decal as Flieger. Where are you guys finding these? I have looked everywhere for them. Can you please direct me to a site where I can purchase one of these? They look great. And I would assume it would help cut down on one glare, like a very large sun visor. Thanks Meka

Kroggers 05-22-2008 06:22 AM

Red with Silver and SC :)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1211466148.jpg

DavidB911 05-22-2008 06:38 AM

The script on the side should be the color of the wheels as has been mentioned earlier. What I would like to suggest is a dark red for the script. I think the black looks best, but do as you will.

nameisbauer 05-22-2008 09:13 AM

I just had this file ready from my car, so I dropped my idea in the mix. Hard to show silver, but you get the jist(grey stripes).

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1211476391.jpg

Flieger 05-22-2008 09:34 AM

I do like light Fuchs centers. I would probably change the wheels on my car if I was doing it again.

I don't like the fully polished look. My favorite is silver petals with black background. RSR anodized.

nameisbauer 05-22-2008 09:38 AM

I agree, against the polished. If I can find RSR wheels at this angle I will put those on it. But I have this for now. "iroc" with black wheels.
