The seats are at my Mothers house in Gardena. I can have my Brother ship or take them where ever I specify.

What would you like the end product to look like? Original Recaro embroidery on the leather? If that is not important, then there are a lot of great shops in the Los Angeles area that can take care of those seats for you.
There are no kits to recover them, so it will take making new patterns, for the leather, and replacing internal parts as needed. Figure on a top shop charging in the $1200-1800 range for a complete job on both seats. As this is pretty expensive, you may want to consider other seats that don't need work. I hope others post here with suggestions for shops in the Gardena, Torrance area. No need to bring those heavy suckers out to the valley

I can recommend Collins Auto Trim in Downey. Tom Scott, the owner, does great work.
Here's an example of his work on a set of early seats (not my car). He did a headliner and fixed my sunroof mechanism in my '67 912. Loves working on the older model Porsches and does a great job at a fair price. Scott

I dont see a need that it has to say Recaro. I would like it to look as clean as possible. Like it grew there! Or like the seats were ordered with the car. My interior color is Linen, & I would like to stick with that color because my Porsche is a Cab & the seats get hot with the top down.
Thanks for your responses & suggestions!!

I can't help with another source but I'll offer a bit of advice. If I were getting a pair of these recovered, I wouldn't care so much who was close, I'd just haul them to the best guy I could find. You're only going to do this once, you'll soon forget the trip and the cost. There are a lot of shops that do "okay" work and a handful that do it as well as the factory did. Maybe less than a handful....
Just an opinion, from the middle of nowhere. JR |

Good observation. I am defintely of that mindset. Just looking in a closer area, where I know there are quality shops.

99.5% was customer referrals, the rest on my own cars. I don't think that pictures of the dash & headliner in my '82 SC will tell you much! Over the last 25+ years Pete has done Cab & Targa tops, seals, seat rebuilding, cut & sew carpets, etc., for my shop. I don't remember a single complaint, but do remember many of the "Thank You" calls from customers after having work done by him.
