Question on AC removal / dash

Hi guys - happy to say this is the "before" picture but it was the best one I have of the AC vents.

Newbie here, so thanks in advance for the patience, but am I correct in that the lower dash extension and vents are aftermarket for my 1974? Can I simply remove all of this if I'm not going to use the AC?

Thanks.

Simple answer is yes but you would also need to delete the rest of the system to be correct, condenser, evaporator, compressor, drier, hoses and all lines. Save what you can as the parts may be saleable.

Once you take it all out I believe there are knee bolsters that finish it off real nice - I think they are hard to come by though. I t just round off the edge once you remove the A/C vents and housing.

Thanks - once the lines are disconnected should this just lift out of the smuggler box?

I read a recent post where the same question was asked. They mentioned there were screws under the dash also. I haven't taken mine out yet, so I'm curious what you find out.

Hi Rick - mine was a mix of metric and standard bolts and screws. Typical of the DPO, sigh. Not sure what you will find.

I still need to take the rest of system out, will take pictures.

Still need to test Bob's tach adapter but couldn't dig into electrical system since car is at the body shop for rocker repair.
