Does Walbro fuel pump have check valve??

Hi,

I recently replaced my dead Bosch fuel pump with a Walbro GCL608 kit, including a Walbro GSL392 pump. My car, 78SC, now starts fine when cold, but not when warm.
I know my original fuel pump had the check valve inside the pump. I did not get a check valve with my kit, and I do not know if the Walbro pump has one inside. If not, that could be the cause of my warm startup problem.
So my question to those who use Walbro fuel pumps: did you add an external check valve or not?

Aurel

They dont have an internal check valve, at least the 255lph one that I use doesn't. When I turn the key off I can see the pressure bleeding down via my mechanical fuel pressure gauge.

I haven't added a check valve either, never had any problems refiring when hot.

These pumps build pressure very quickly, so you should have full fuel pressure a few seconds after turning the key.

What kind of induction do you have? With CIS, I think a check valve is necessary, because the whole system needs to be pressurized. I know when the check valve fails, no more warm start. My pump is not the high pressure model too, pretty much the same specs as the original Bosch.
I am glad to know there was no check valve in those pumps, this can be my issue.

No Idea On Check Valve

I put the Walbro GLC 604 on my '83 (stock CIS). Don't know if it has a check valve, but I haven't had any fuel related problems since I installed it (over 2 years ago).

Good luck, Gordo

Walbro/CIS here. A few extra seconds on the crank while starting hot but it fires right up.
