Wheel Upgrade Project

Looking to hear what would be required to fit the following package.

97 Targa Wheels (17 x 7.5 //17 x 9)

930 Calipers (Front & Rear)

Standard 911 Carrera (1985)

What spacers will be required?
Will any other changes be necessary?
Any other items I am neglecting?

Hopefully someone will have done something along these lines.

We modify the rear calipers so they can be bolted on to your carrera rear arms. $400 plus shipping.
You will need 930 brake discs front and rear. If you find 80 and newer front discs, you will need the hubs too. 78-79 front discs need mounting rings or adaptor plates (which some here have fabricated and can sell you

78-89 rear 930 discs are a bolt on.

From there you need to know the backspacing of the intended rims to be mounted. measure from the backside (where they mount to the hub) to the outside edge. Substract 1/2 inch and you have a pretty close idea on what the backspacing is. Stock backspacing on fuchs for your car is 4.5"
When fitting later 930 front hubs on standard fender front end, you will likely need 5.5 " - 5 3/4" backspace .
Out back a 5" backspace would probably work best. As you are most likely going to stuff the biggest tires each rim can handle, a little more inset is better. You can always use longer studs and spacers to bring the rims back out

If you are going to limit yourself to 964 & newer wheels w/ high o/s then using the later '81 up 930 hubs & rotors makes a lot of sense because you will be able to use a smaller spacer than is usually needed when late o/s wheels are used on a 911.

The '81 up 930 hub/rotor is spaced out 21mm more than a 911. A 911 hub w/ the 993 wheel will need ~34mm spacers, late 930 will need ~13mm

As Dave said the after the rear calipers are modified they all bolt on, as do the rotors

you will want a 23.3mm boosted 930 m/c which is also a bolt on.
