Help needed on installing new sump plate
Hi,
When I rebuilt my motor about 10 years I upgraded the oil pump to the turbo pump (as I recall anyway). I purchased a replacement sump plate with the drain plug from our host. It's a very elegant piece of machined aluminum, BTW. The sump plate comes with two gaskets, and I'm not sure why. My sump plate needs to mate directly to the case, suggesting that only one gasket is needed. The kit comes with 2. Am I missing something? Did I order the wrong version, and if so will this one still work for me? My pump has an integral strainer basket on it, if that provides any useful info. But the basket is kept within the opening; there aren't any parts that protrude out around the sealing ring. Thanks for any help!

The kit comes with 2 gaskets for the pumps without an integral strainer. For example, my 3.0L SC goes Case->Gasket->Strainer->Gasket->Sump Plate. If the gasket fits, then use one and you have a spare!

Thanks, that's what I figured but I appreciate the confirmation. Always nice to have spares!
