Mounting Clip on Shoulder Straps to Roll Bar
I was looking for the best way to do this and spent some time searching for pictures here. I didn't find any.
I have 6 point harness system with clips on the mounting ends. These belts have the short shoulder straps and the clip end is sewn on the end of the strap. The other end of the top portion of the strap is sewn onto the pull down adjuster. I suspect some of the bolt on belts are done the same way. I could drill a hole and then weld the eye bolt onto the cross bar, but I'm not sure that is the best answer for what I have. Unfortunately, I bought the Harnesses a few years ago so I can't return them. Comments, suggestions and pictures appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I saw some of your pictures and the diagram in my search last night. Your roll bar picture shows the solution to another issue with my bar. The outter straps would connect at the part of the bar that curves. I'd bbing it your way if I was starting fresh, but I don't want to spend $500-600+ on a new set. It seems like the sets come with either the clip in ends, bolt on ends or no ends like yours. I haven't seen a combination with the clip in's on the lap and subs and then wrap style on the shoulders. Is there anyone who restores harnesses with new straps? If I can source some 3" webbing and 4 of those 3 bar adjusters I could make this up. Or go ahead and find a way to mount what I have and get-er-done. I think the eye bolts would work, but I haven't seen it done. On another racing products site, I saw some triangle shaped weld on tabs with a hole in it. It looks like the tabs would be welded on the bar (sticking forward) and then a bolt on end would be used. If this is preferable, I could easily fab something like that.

OK, thanks.
I bought the harnesses from a place called Driving Impressions in New Jersey. They seem to be just a wharehouse operation. Are there others that you know of that are reliable? Since I live in Maryland something on the East Coast or Local would be good. Does OG Racing do this? How long should the shoulder straps be to have the extra for the loop.

You'll have to ask around, I don't have the lengths off hand, it will depend on the roll bar/seat positions

http://shop.weldtab.com/main.sc I have not bought parts from this oufit, they were just the first to appear on my search. Although, they do seem to have a nice selection of home fab goodies. |
