Cam Tower removal - oil leak

I have a cam tower oil leak. Why are people recommending the removal of the heads with the cam towers to repair the leak? Is this necessary and required or can I just remove the cam tower. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is possible to remove just the Cam towers, I did this while leaving my engine in the car at one point to fix this same leak. If you decide to remove just the cam towers ensure that yours are worth re-using, inspect them very good IE rocker shaft area, flatness of the towers,. Scuff them a bit and clean them ANTISEPTICALLY and the Head Mating surface and seal them w/ LOCTITE 574.. Matter of preference, others use other sealants.

Good LUCK!
