Brake Lights . . . Yet Again
Hi everyone,
I've got the same faulty, high-pressure-required, slow brake light switches that so many other 911 Carrera owners have discussed in other threads. I am weighing my options for a cure. Has anyone tried one of these: ![]() from www.clparts.com? Also, why wouldn't a door jam, interior light switch work as a mechanical brake light switch? Door jam switches see a lot of use/abuse, are pure Porsche, and not much money at all from our host. Also, I have PM-ed Draco for more info. on his setup which, if I understand it, protects the switches from overload. Has anyone tried that setup? Has anyone tried that setup and found it reliable over an extended period of time? As always, here's a "Thank you" to all of you who have helped all the lurkers like me out here trying to keep our cars safe. Thank you, EZMiles

That's a pretty elaborate looking brake light switch. Not sure there's enough room to install it in the pedal cluster area. Draco's solution seems to be valid; to reduce the current load through the MC pressure switches by using a relay.
A mechanical solution could attempt to duplicate the adjustable MC brake light switch on an early pedal cluster: ![]() ![]() Sherwood |

I did something like this the momentary switch is robust it can use a dust cover and I sealed it up with double wall shrink tube, seems to work real good.

Hey EZMiles,
Several Members have ordered my Arc Suppressor. A customer of mine has used his for 5 months with no issues. Scarceller posted his finding on Rennlist: The issue is too much amperage on our BLS's

I installed Draco’s relay “Arc Suppressor” this afternoon. Fairly easy, just needed to temporarily move the A/C and heater hoses to get access. The system worked well in one afternoon’s worth of test driving. It is well assembled and thought out, and I think is a worthwhile addition to the car. It will take a while to see if it really does save the brake light switches, but I’m confident it will.
