Ever seen a transmission like this?
I flew down to TX Friday morning, rented a Penske truck and trailer to pick up a 69S Targa and a 75 Targa that have been sitting outside for 10+ years. got back late Saturday night and wonderful friend that he is, Chris Bennet came down to help get the 69 out of the truck and generally get things organized today. thanks Chris!
The 2.7 and mag case 915 had been pulled from the 75 and also left outside, though well covered. The 915 is the worst, but 2.7 case is also eaten away a little and ruined. Could this be part of a factory lightening option? ![]() ![]() The 2.0 in the 69S is frozen solid. the car needs new floors, new rockers, new B pillars and a new front end as well as doors and fenders, and of course a new interior, targa top, etc. but it's a numbers matching S, originally velvet green. can't seem to find a picture of this color, but it's a green version of robin egg blue if that makes any sense. took some of the black off on the A pillars and a beautiful green was underneath. The 75 has substantial but very fixable rust. 2 lizards stowaways popped out of the 2.7 and ran away. they won't enjoy winter. Some pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() note the mud wasps and snake skin. ![]()

![]() Hooray!! This is something I would have done if I were a few years younger. In fact, I still have a few pieces left over from similar endeavors. I will enjoy the discussion on this 69S project for sure. Len Smile, you own a Porsche, and there really is no substitute.

Hmm that 915 looks like it may have been under water....Or maybe sitting on damp earth. What eats mag like that Battery acid? You may want to wear gloves until you get it all disinfected :-)
Very cool stuff, like puzzle!

Hey Shaun,
Sorry I couln't assist with the unload as I was at the NER Autocross all day. I like the short shifter in the '75. ![]() I have never seen a 915 like that, incredible. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. Noel

Noel, I guarantee you had a better day for it!
no worries, there will be plenty more opportunities. Randy, email me on the arm. Lenny, I'll be interested to hear your assessment when you can come over for the fender.

Shaun,
You said Texas but how close was it to the ocean? Any salt water or flooding involved here? Never seen a case or alloy eaten away like that unless its been near either salt water or some acidic compound... Glad you are saving the cars! Joe

That car has seen better days. Are you planning to restore it (gonna' take a LOT of work) or parting it? If you're parting it, are the chrome trim pieces around the windshield & rear window any good?
