Hey Steve,

I see you modified the exhaust, unfortunately removing the OEM Cat will cause the back fires.

I recently changed to a Cat By Pass and Sw Chip and yes mine back fires from time to time. A price to pay for increase in performance.

How is your sub-dip on RPM's? if it dip too low you may need to lean out your air/fuel mixture then adjust base idle to 880 RPM's

Could you possibly have an exhaust leak? I have a Fabspeed premuffler along with a GHL 1/1out and a SW chip, and I made sure I didn't have any leaks upon installation. My car has never backfired with this combo FWIW.

My "stepped up" 3.2 with cat delete, test pipe and Steve Wong chip will crackle and pop on deceleration. I use a modified two in two out exhaust and initially was concerned about the backing down pops and crackles. I agree with Draco A50G "that's a price of increased performance. I drive at 5500 to 7500 ft elevation and had thought the back fire was an elevation caused effect. Down at sea level the power curve does just up considerably but the butt blasts don't go away. I'm interested in the fuel mixture comment though. My idle is set at 900 but I've not played with fuel mixtures so far. I wonder exactly how you go about that??? I've never done it.

Same here.. much popping on deceleration. Sounds like an F1 car. Small price to pay for the performance boost.

I guess I never realized that a popping exhaust on decel was considered bad...I always strove for that sound

At least my 911 doesn't shoot 2 foot flames out of the exhaust after coming off redline like my RX-7 did a little popping and burbling is just fine compared to threatening local children and pedestrians...

Mike's got the idea! Rather than be concerned the crackle is caused by some mistune, take comfort in the sound of performance! I like it too! I sometimes run with a 355 F1 and love the high RMP back down I get trying not to run over him. LOL
