Anybody who can find a car with side tinted windows that cost only $9.75 extra has my vote. Have at it.
|
would it ever be a safe car? I would not buy it after the repairs thats for sure

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but the best and highest use of that pile of iron oxide is as a fab garden ornament. Unless of course you've no compunctions about committing fraud and have got a solid LWB 911T Targa to VIN-switch into an S and sell at the next major-label auction for silly money...
|
wow - if you do complete it, you'll get some kind of award for "best save" from "worst car"
Good Luck PS - am collecting a few odds & ends to add to the beer money for the clutch arm - you'll see that soon & Thanks again for the arm |
Would it then have a salvage title or not? Looks like you will be replacing everything around the vin numbers? no?

I pm'd him earlier and said we should call it the "Brought it Back From the Most Dead" award

The doors close nicely with the standard "ring" of early cars. it's worth saving, just like the few 356 speedsters that were probably junked 30 years ago were. |

Nevermind all those who say "You can't". You'll be listening to them for years, get used to it. All the youcants in my life are currently eating large piles of crow.
Can this car be restored: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1212895573.jpg Yes - it CAN. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1212896019.jpg |
Don't show it to Lars (Speedo)...he'll fly out and steal it from you. :)
|
That needs some work.
So, the owner kept the original paperwork, but decided to just trash the car by leaving it in a field? Odd... I recently sold some '69 sheetmetal to Eade Hopkinson, you might need some here! -Wayne |
Maybe you can work out a package deal from these guys: http://www.restoration-design.com/index.html
You know you basically need one of everything they make http://www.restoration-design.com/images/911body2.jpg http://www.restoration-design.com/images/911floor.jpg |
Good luck Shuan, will be a job and 3/4 but you can do it.

Thanks Dave, and thank God it's only the gas tank support on the front end I'll need to do. did you post on fixing that crossmember mounting point.
let's talk paint in 2012 Mark.:D I guess I should have posted what color to paint the 75 Carrera. I'd have 30 pages of positive vibes. :p |
I am with dtw. It's your car. I am taking the same approach (stash it away, collect parts and then get to work) on my second car. I can't wait to see this car in 2013!

having the window sticker, it would be very interesting to get the Porsche COA and see how well they match. |
I personally could not imagine taking on that project, wow!
|
The guy I sold this one to was planning on repairing it. He said he'd send me pictures of the finished product:

Kudos to you, Shaun.....My TR4 sat in a field for over 20 years, and I was able to bring it back. A Sawzall, mig welder, and patience will take you far.....
I was 14 when I started the project (with help of my dad).....and I had it finished by my senior year in high school. It was the ultimate learning experience, and confidence builder. I did everything by myself, from the ground up, including painting. If I goofed something up, I redid it, and learned from my mistakes. When it was time for paint and body work, I took a class at the Continuing Education part of our community schools. I spent 80 shop hours on the hood (bonnet for British folks) alone. When I needed to get paint supplies, I asked a local paint shop if he needed help around his shop. My payment? All of the sandpaper, and paint materials I needed. Heck, he even showed me how to mix paint, and I mixed my own paint when it was time for it.... Keep at it!! |
