I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but the best and highest use of that pile of iron oxide is as a fab garden ornament. Unless of course you've no compunctions about committing fraud and have got a solid LWB 911T Targa to VIN-switch into an S and sell at the next major-label auction for silly money...

thanks Randy, glad you got the arm OK. On the car, I'm not sure I'll be doing the welding. I'm comfortable with floors and panels, for example the front end would be fine for me, but this car is above my current skill level given the state of the rear floors. I will either give it to someone like Series900 who has a Celette and can make the car whole again, or build a jig/frame myself and go very slowly, or maybe get Tim Hancock to come out for a week to get it going.:D

The doors close nicely with the standard "ring" of early cars. it's worth saving, just like the few 356 speedsters that were probably junked 30 years ago were.

thank you Brian! yes, I thought it strange that it would have the E hydropneumatic front suspension, but clearly this was a personalized car for it's first owner. Sourcing those will probably prove to be the most difficult part of the entire project. It's got the standard 3.5 Koni upgrade from the 70s.


having the window sticker, it would be very interesting to get the Porsche COA and see how well they match.

I personally could not imagine taking on that project, wow!

Kudos to you, Shaun.....My TR4 sat in a field for over 20 years, and I was able to bring it back. A Sawzall, mig welder, and patience will take you far.....

I was 14 when I started the project (with help of my dad).....and I had it finished by my senior year in high school. It was the ultimate learning experience, and confidence builder. I did everything by myself, from the ground up, including painting. If I goofed something up, I redid it, and learned from my mistakes.

When it was time for paint and body work, I took a class at the Continuing Education part of our community schools. I spent 80 shop hours on the hood (bonnet for British folks) alone. When I needed to get paint supplies, I asked a local paint shop if he needed help around his shop. My payment? All of the sandpaper, and paint materials I needed. Heck, he even showed me how to mix paint, and I mixed my own paint when it was time for it....
