MegaSquirt 1 to MS Extra question

I need step by step directions on how to change/rewire the fuel pump relay socket so I can switch from MS1 to MS Extra. I have Tony's EFI kit.

Eric

Eric, I'll try to help as much I can. I'm not sure of what your wanting to do with the fuel pump wiring. It should be the same for both, as far as I know. Help us out: what pcb are you running, are you going to control ignition now, distributor or coil packs?

What's happening Duke,
With Tony's kit (MS I) he modified the software so that the fuel pump did not get a ground until you started the car. If you you go to start but not run the pump will come on for about 5 sec then shut off until you went to run. In MS II or MS I Extra if you left the wiring the same you would not have the same signal to run the fuel pump.

Eric, I'm thinking the software has been modified not the wiring, right? If so the ms-extra software should take care of that. Both supply ground from term. 37 so I'm not seeing a problem. HTH.

My understanding (from reading different forum) is that the pin fot thr fuel pump have to be switched, but I don"t know which ones.

Reversing the fuel pump "logic" at the car's fuel pump relay appears to be the easiest thing to do. MS-II will pull ground to activate the fuel pump relay (FPR) so you need to switch the wiring at the FPR. I did this by first cutting the RPM limiter out of the circuit (MS has this feature built in). Then, you have to switch the wires going to 87 and 87a as well as move the "jumper" that goes from 87a to 86 to create a "jumper" from 87 to 86.

Pre-rewiring

After rewiring

Steve,
Thanks, that's what I was looking for. Does your diagram change since I don"t have a rev limiter?

My Haynes electrical diagram for the 1977 shows the same relay without the rev limiter so I would just ignore that part.
