It appears that the fuel pump for '74 911 are no longer available. Anyone have any solutions?

I have one from a 73.5T I parted our recently. Not 100% on it as the car sat, but worth checking. I can send it to Joe if you like.

ANOTHER NLA part? Jesus, this is getting ridiculous.
Nothing even from Bosch?

Anyone tried the "universal replacement" offered by our host? I think I found the correct one elsewhere...but at about twice the price of a later (SC) pump.

Unfortunately that is not the same as the one in a '74.

Here's one:
http://www.***********/acatalog/Bosch_Fuel_Pump__911_73_76_w_C_I_S_.html and another: http://www.racepages.com/fr/parts/fuel_pump/porsche/911/1974.html?cid=Z1171296685W45d091ad16c15&kwd=Porsche+911+Fuel+Pump and another http://www.overnightautoparts.com/porsche-911-911--003-fuel-pump.html I bought a rebuilt one myself. Have had no trouble with it.

Yes, I found the one at Zims...assuming they actually have them. Seems like $700 for a fuel pump is sorta steep. I guess the rebuilt one may be the way to go.
The other two are not correct. I did find a part number on the Bosch website that I have found a source for at $286 new...but they show it out of stock and they would have to order it. I will likely try that if I don't find a better way. It is BOSCH Part # 69459. Maybe someone at Pelican can do some research on getting the Bosch part...as I would rather send Wayne my money.

"Anyone tried a later pump? I have a 3.0 in there anyways"
This is why I posted. Do you need a pump for a 74 or for a 3.0L? I know the pumps are located in different locations but I thought you would require a different pump for a 3.0L. Good luck with your search. |

Good info. Were the connections similar? Did you mount it in the same place?

I bought a CIS fuel pump for my '74 about 18 months ago and put less than 100 miles on it before switching to carbs and a different fuel pump. Let me know if you're interested in a "like new" CIS fuel pump for a '74 (real, real cheap to you).

The location is the problem on the 74 for 2 reasons: 1. The heat of the engine may shorten the service life of the pump, and 2. the later pumps were designed to fit behind the fuel tank on the transmission cross bar and the connections are different than the 74 pump, making it difficult to place a later pump in the stock location. It's not that difficult to move the pump on the 74 to the front of the car. You will need to find a way to splice together the fuel lines where the pump was originally located, and then splice in the pump at the tank. Just make sure that if you do this you get all of the fittings for the later pump.
