Arias Pistons?

I was hearing a noise that I didn't like while running one of my 2.0L motors, or atleast I thought it was a 2L. When I tore the engine down I found these muthas. The inside reads "Arias" and "535-SS". Anyone ever use this brand and happen to know what the compression ratio is?

They used to be very popular for the air-cooled crowd. Competition Engineering carried them when Ray Litz was around. They do look beefy don't they? I believe Arias is still around in Gardena, CA.

Yes Arias made a run of pistons for Ray at CE. I had a rare set for my 914-4 at one time. Arias is big with the drag race crowd.

HI John
have taken these out of a "2.0"Lt engine (in-port from USA) and thay look like yours, these are 86mm and NLA, Arias would make some more for me at a price as thay have no drawings for them now.

the engine came apart for a noise when cold, and this was the prob'!!

Yeah Mike. That's the same one. I must have read the 3 as a 5 for the first digit in the part number. I have been working off my photos as the pistons are back at the shop.

Did your motor have the stock heads bored out to accept the pistons, like mine? How stupid is that!? All that compression and small intake and exhaust ports.

I had an extra good motor that I robbed correct heads, pistons, and cylinders off of to fix my problem. One of the pistons was hitting the head. I assume from over heating. I think my pistons are still good. They look it. If you could still get a set of rings, maybe you could use mine as a replacement? That is, if you need them. Let me know.

HI John
The engine I have hear looks like the one you have, with the heads modified to fit the cylinders and the cases bored also, the heads are STD "L" engine spec', the engine is being re-built and waiting for some fresh cylinders at the moment, it is up to this stage;

with one of Supertec twin plug dist.
The pistons have been changed for some JE ones, from Supertec.

regards mike
