Drive with rear heater blower removed?
Is it OK to temporarily operate the car with the engine compartment heater blower removed? It needs to be checked out and possibly replaced and I would like to continue driving the car while I get things sorted out.

I asked the same question a while ago, and was told you need to block it off otherwise you'll be getting less engine cooling. If you remove the plastic hose going to the motor you can block it at the fan shroud with (no kidding) a can of tuna. I emptied it out and held it in place with electrical tape.
Good luck, Babak |

Thanks for the advise. I will play it safe and do as you suggest. The blower is out and it is definitely binding. I am going to investigate the Grainger motor alternative to a new blower. How did you wind up fixing your problem?
By the way, for anyone trying to remove the blower, the Bentley manual has a photo with arrows pointing to 2 nuts holding the blower in place. There is a third tucked back out of view on the other side that is not mentioned. Knowing it is there will save a little frustration.

do a search on heat/blower/backdate etc., there are a gazillion threads. I just backdated my heat and removed the blower altogether.

+1 on the tuna. For that extra class get a can of Alaskan red salmon. It makes mean tuna sandwich substitute, and is high in Omega 3s to boot. Bon Appetit!

I did the Grainger substitute, made an adapter plate out of a sheet of aluminum. It works, but I still have some wiring issue between the relay and the contacts in the cabin.
Backdate is nice, but pricey! Good luck, Babak |

Man I need to finish mine up. My goal was to do a low-budget backdate. I have the actual Porsche early tin to do it like most, but thought I could make my own mods. The tricky part is the SC LHS duct. Still working on that part, but my duct has some dryrot issues, so need to get another one to do this part of it. Until then, I have a repop FG unit that is a copy of the 930 LHS unit. I got it for $40, os I guess it could still be low-buck mod
