Very nice! Ben, is this the unit you're taking pre-orders for on your website? How much and when will they be ready if I may ask?

They are ready for orders I would encourage you to call your PP rep so that we can support our host on this. I know jason and glenn pretty well and deal with them a bunch so give them a call and they can get the details

mb911,
could I ask what material is the packaging inside (fiberglass, ss, or steelwool)?
And how much the unit cost?
Thanks.

mb911 06-11-2008 02:49 PM

it is a fiberglass type material and this is all 321 stainless steel I hopeing for a retail of $325 or so but preorders are cheaper

That looks nice. I am another interested potential customer.

I have to tell you guys my wife walked up behind me and I did not know she was watching what I was doing on the computer. I was looking at the pre-muffler photos and admiring the welding. My 1st inkling that she was there was when she asked if that was hard porn or soft porn. I told her it was exhaust porn. This site has lots of engine porn and restoration porn as well. I could show it to her if she wanted. She just shook her head and walked away muttering something like "either driving it, in the garage working on it, or on the internet reading about it." Guilty as charged, and happy about it. :)

very nice welds!

can we get a video?

dumb question, but does a 911 run any cooler with one of these vs. a cat?

guys this was number 1 welded as a prototype so no real effort went into the welds. My guys are very good welders. I taught a good portion of them at the school I teach at:D

oh and yes they will run cooler with less restriction

DRACO A5OG 06-11-2008 04:12 PM

Sweet, Video Please and +1 on running Cooler Q by Rusnak.

Please excuse my ignorance but can anyone explain the difference between a pre-muffler & a cat-bypass? Thank you

Jeff Alton 06-11-2008 05:13 PM

Looks really good!!! Nice work!

Cheers

euro911sc 06-11-2008 05:26 PM

There has to be something, why else would Ben make both? I'd assume the pre-muffler is a bit quieter than a bypass but not as quiet as a cat nor as restrictive?

83-911SC cab 06-11-2008 06:01 PM

I am no expert but from what I have seen,

Cat bypass is usually a solid straight through pipe.

Pre muffler usually looks like the one pictured here with a perforated straight pipe inside another pipe w/some sort of absorption material between them to help muffle a little but still have no resistance.

Also I am one of the peeps who pre-ordered on Ben's sight and hope he sent this list of names to the guy's at PP so I can get that discount..:D

It looks as good as I had thought it would and can not wait to get my greedy little paws on mine....

A pre-muffler is a small muffler that replaces the catalytic converter.
A cat bipass is a tube that replaces the catalytic converter and has no muffling.
