Help with tire clearance on early 911

Ok here's the deal. I have a 69' 911 I am building with a 3.2. I am not going to flare the rear. I have a set of 16X7 fuchs and have gotten different answers to the clearance of 7's on the rear. I would like to put 15X6's on but am afraid the 240 horse otto's built motor needs a little more rubber. Please any help!!!! Also I have a set of 16X6's does anyone have a pic of an early car with these size wheels on it.

16x6s - these look a little different because I blacked out the extra inch of the centers and left only the lip anodized

A 16X7 will fit (rear) but you can only mount 205 (55/50) tires. IMO, a GREAT way to go is to mount 16X8 951 Fuchs on all four corners. They will fit nicely underneath the stock fenders/quarter panels. You can use 225-50-16s on all four as well.

Any pics of early cars with 16X8 951 Fuchs sporting 225-50-16s on them?

Confused

The 16X8 944 wheel 951-362-117-00 has 23.3mm of offset the same offset as a standard 7", problem is the offset is measured from the center of the wheel out which would make the 8 stick approx. a half inch further out, when coupled to a larger tire this would make more of a clearance issue than the 7". If I am wrong please explain.

wheel fitments

you can certainly use the 7x15 or 7x16 ET23.3 all around on a narrow body car. tire will depend on ride height.

205/60 x15 or 16 should be ok
215/55x15 or 16 should be ok, but it's getting close to the edge at lower heights
225/50x15 or 16 should be ok, ditto
225/45x15 or 16 will give a little more breathing room

I have no explanation. This (951 8" Fuchs) is what I ran on my stock (looking;-) '74. I never had any issues.

What is the ride height on the narrow body cars can you still use those sizes with a ride height of 25 1/4 in the rear.... Thanks Frank

that's 'cause the fenders changes in 74.
16x7's would seriously rub my rear suspension arm, irregardless of tire size.
even the 16x6's rub the inner fender at full compresion (track)
