Windshield Install

(1983 911 Cabriolet)

Can someone recommend a good windshield installer in the Hartford CT area?

Or

Has anyone in the Hartford area installed one? Help me install? I'll provide the beer!

Thanks
Dante

Dante,

I can't give you any recommendations on a good shop to do the work. But if you follow the instructions in Waynes Book 101 projects for your 911 the process is really not too challenging. I did it successfully and sometimes it surprises me that I can get my socks to match in the morning. Having a friend help push and lift it into place is close to a requirement.

A lot of times an auto glass place will even come to you and install it for you.

Where are you located in CT. I'm in Holyoke, MA. May be able to give a hand if not to far away. Wouldn't mind seeing one go in.

I'm in the general area and have done this before. It is pretty easy and straightforward. I person putting light preassure on the thing from the outside and you in the car pulling out the cord. start from the bottom middle and work out the the lower corners first. For peace of mind i overlap the cord so that a second pass could be made rather than pulling the thing out to try again, if you get it only 90% on the first pass. Also it helps to soap up the new seal some and you will benefit from it being warm out now... but if you get into a pinch, give me a call and i could talk you through it or come by to lend a hand. 203 313 0441
cheers,
felix
