Jobs to do before glass goes in ?? !

HI,
I got all stripped down at last, (thanks to people here)
Engine out , glass out , seats....etc....
Just have to fisish rubbing it down then its off to the spray shop, So im wondering what jobs to do before the glass goes in ?? Well the dash is a complete mess as there is up to 5 cracks right through, even one above the clocks , so should i go for a DASHCAP and stick on the vinyl to match ? Also the dash has "popped" up in places so this would have to be held down in some way..... While i was looking in this area i was looking at how im going to be installing the front window as it looks to be a bit of an angle to pull the string as the dash sits above the lip where the seal comes over.(dash is sittin ok at window)
I have so many questions !!
Hope i can gets lots of advice,
Cheers, Paul

Dashcaps are not very convincing in my experience. I'd rather have a used dash with a good, honest crack or two. I'd try to find a used dash. This is easier if you have a car with the center vent. You don't mention the year of your car.

The headliner should be replaced with the glass out. Most other things besides the headliner and dash can be done with the glass in.

Installing the windshield with the dash (and defroster bezels) in place is not a problem. You will be pulling a cord -- 7-8mm diameter is ideal) that pulls the gasket flap over the metal edge of the windshield surround. You can pull straight or at an angle. It won't matter that much.

+1. Go with a used or recovered dash, if cost allows.

That's a factory look. It's on my 73T with tan interior, and on this 72 as well:

Haha - I have my new dash cap litterally sitting on the dash loose. I had intended to install it over two weeks ago but it hasn't happened. My barely installed cap looks way better than my original dash, with two very honest cracks, if you ask me.
