Metamorphosis complete: Welcome home!

It has been over 1 year since my 73T left the garage for sorting. It is finally home. While not perfect with minor bits that still need completing; the car is a pure muscle hot rod! The 3.2 in the light weight body is slammin. Now all I need is some seat time.

Upon arrival last Spring:

Arriving home today:

Mechanically, the car is now excellent. The motor was dropped; disassembled, resealed and reassembled, plugs, wires and distributor replaced. It is now dry not a drip! It only needs fine tuning. It still has an uneven idle.

The complete fuel system, wiring harness have all been updated to 3.2 vintage and compatibility. The car now services as if it were a 3.2 carrera.

Suspension and brakes are first rate with new rotors up front and new shocks in the rear. The car was delivered from the PO with adjustable spring plates, 22-28mm t-bars, turbo tie rods, bump steer, new rubber bushings everywhere. Car was aligned, corner balance, fenders rolled and is riding on 7/9X16s. RSR finish by Al Reed. The 9s in the rear are monsters.

The car is ready to go….quickly. I can’t wait to push it hard around some corners.

Great looking car. Are those oil lines running down the driver's side of the car? Tell us more about the mechanicals.

Oil cooler w/ aeroquip lines, 3.2 with autothority chip, MAF and SSIs. 7:31 geared.

The engine bay still needs a bit of straightening.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

I purchased the seats from a fellow pelican in Canada. They were not cheap but very complete and in need of upholstering. They were sent directly to Tony Garcia @ autobahn interiors in San Diego. I contacted another pelican brother for the German hounds tooth material. Tony then completed the balance of the seats in leather. The framing was powder coated during the re-upholstering process. I am still learning all the seat's features.

The interior was stripped of everything except the headliner and the lower dash. It is now model after an 73 RS lightweight interior. The 400mm steering wheel [double wrapped leather], dash, door panels and perlon carpet kits were sourced from Autobahn Interiors. The speaker cover came from Stoddard. The interior still needs to be completed but all the majors are installed. Quite a few of the electrical accessories have to be reconnected. I am going to put together a punchlist this weekend.
