Victory Motorcars Houston Texas

Guys,

I am half a world away, so do you have anything to say -good or bad - on Victory Motorcars of Houston Texas. I am looking at a trade with them but my learjet is in overhaul so a quick stop over to Houston is out for the moment

Thanks already.

Kr

I don't know much other than they have the cleanest cars on ebay. I would take my car to their detailer for sure.

True, they do seem to have that trick about vacuuming a 'V' into the front carpets.

OP: Just do a search on them here or on Rennlist and you will have loads of information. Some of it hearsay and some of it first hand.

Do a search...

There are a number of LONG threads about Victory... good and bad.

No bargains for sure.

It seems that if you walk in the door, and actually look at the car, and drive it, then you'll get a good transaction.

If however, you buy on e-bay sight unseen, then it seems that you will have an awful transaction.

Also, rumors of them keeping sock listed in inventory long after it's been sold...I would not assume that any car is actually available unless I walked in and saw it sitting on the floor.

They do like to clean. They had several flatbedded in to a local concour show a month ago, and each almost glowed it had so much shine and wax on it...and yes, the vacuumed V's everywhere...

That carpet vacuuming pattern is so completely cool! I hope their detailer does well because they really know how to present a 911.

Victory

I was down there a couple of times when I was looking for a 911 myself when I was in Houston for business. I live about a 2.5 hour plane ride away, so it is kind of tricky to go take a look at a car on the fly everytime a candidate comes up on their site.

All cars are very well detailed, but upon close inspection, there are flaws (as with any used cars). Better to go take an actual look before purchase.

They did say that once agreed upon a price, one can take it out to get it PPI'ed.

Their stock seems to move quickly so you could visit and get lucky or may be keep in touch with them and go over there once they have a car that you are looking for.... I believe what they have on the Bay is what they have for sale.

The people seemed very nice, but then, I ended up not buying a car from them so I cannot comment on the actual purchase process.

I've always disliked the vacuumed 'V'. I always feel that they're trying to slide something by while you're hypnotized by the cleanliness of the carpet.

Djeezes, did a search on pelican. This is almost going into Motormeister territory...either that or only the ones with a negative experience react.

With 40 cars a month I can expect to see a few negatives, but I think I will not investigate it any further. I was actually looking at the black speedster 1989....

I believe the problem stems from the gap between their description of it being perfect and the condition of the actual car. You should have someone local may be check it out for you and then get an independent PPI at a local shop before purchase.

Good luck with your search.

Yeah, my Learjet is in the shop too, getting gold plating on the trim. I want to trade my 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO for a 1931 Stutz Bearcat but they said they don't have one in stock. What kind of dealership is that? No Bearcats?

Good luck, I bought mine through eBay in December and had it shipped over here. I was never as scared as when I showed up at Bremerhaven to pick it up.

I have a friend locally who may be selling his Speedster (red), extremely nice car. PM me if you'd like me to contact him for you.

DRSD, If you are still in the market I would recommend Tom Simmons on Lake Street at http://www.midwestperformancecars.com/

I bought my '84 from him 4 years ago and am still surprised at his service.

Thanks Claw for the heads up.
I have been over there to talk to Tom.

I ended up finding a car on Craigslist locally.

Have not been able to get the smirk off my face when behind the wheel since I got the car!

Yep, their detailer definitely knows what he or she is doing to dress up those door pockets like that. Someone local should stop buy, chat them up and get the story of how they get that carpet pattern going. I've got a carpet/upholstery vacuum system and I can't replicate what that dealership shows in its pics.

I don't live to far from the shop. Drove by today on the way home but did not stop in. So I'll stop by and ask about the vacuum technique. Many of their cars go to a very good shop in Houston (I also use) for work prior to listing. My impression is they have the car looked over and work performed to repair obvious faults.
