The previous owner had an Allison Optical igniton sytem installed on my 67' 911. It looks pretty old compared to what I see for sale today. I'm thinking I have a problem with the ignition since I recently replaced the rusted fuel tank, cleaned the fuel lines, installed new fuel filters and cleaned all the jets on my Webers. It does create a spark, but it won't turn over the engine. (I smell plenty of fuel out the exhaust when I crank it, so I know I'm getting fuel) I cleaned the optical eye in the distributor, but it did not seem to help. I'm using the old Allison Coil that came with the system along with this ballast resistor that is also attached. I tried moving the distributor around to get it to start while my helper cranked the starter but still no luck. Any help troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking about switching back to points and condensor to get it running??
