SSI Upgrade?
I have a '77 with a '75 engine, the thermal reactors have been replaced with "w"headers. I am wondering if there is an advantage in replacing the existing setup with new SSI or Dansk heat exchangers. Will an upgrade give more HP or help the engine run cooler? I believe the engine has over 120,000 miles on it, it will run up to 240 degrees on hot days (over 90f). OK, before you think I am crazy for even considering, the car runs strong and has great compression and leakdown results, 175-190 and 2% across the board respectively, what do you think?

the present exhaust with "tubes" is very restrictive. SSI will make a difference.
also get a front fender oil cooler.

it will definatly help with cooling and get you some decent heat in the fall and spring. the hp gain will be lower on a 2.7 maybe 10 hp but no more then that.. best of luck
