What is remarkable about an RS selling for $200K? It actually a bit low, but of course, the non-original color isn't helping...

A non original color wouldn't affect it that much would it? If it is a period correct color, I mean. Of course the original paint would be even better...

I would bet that ANY paint other than original would lower the cars value somewhat. there are those out there that really dig the "original paint".

Original color was India Red but was repainted in GP White with blue "Carrera" lettering. Interior is black. 5 Speed manual transmission, leather Sport Seats, locking differential,

Where are you getting that? I like the work but if you are repainting something I just do exactly what color it came in. Vin and paint codes match.

Canīt open the link, but if its a 72/73 RS its a pretty normal price here in Europe. Perhaps even on the low side with the current American pesetas value.

Not sure what the big deal is here. Many consider this to be the greatest street legal 911 model ever built. And have been selling for well over $200,000 for at least three years. With excellent '67-'73 911S cars now selling in the $100,000 neighborhood, these RS cars will be $400,000 before you know it.

There are several recent documented sales of pristine RS cars selling at over $400,000US.

my point was that it was a really, really nice car.

I don't follow prices that much, but if, as some say, these sell for $400,000 then I'll say WOW! WHAT A STEAL!

Unfortunately, a bit out of my league!

Thats a very nice RS. I would have kept it in its original color.

If I were to spend that kind of money I would want expert scrutiny and documentation that this is indeed the real thing.

I remember reading here or on Rennlist about someone that bought a 73 RS and had it shipped back to Porsche to be rebuilt only to discover it was not a real RS.

I couldn't open the link directly either, but if you use google translation as a proxy - just translate the site from any language to English - it works. They don't want us furrners on their site

At the current exchange rate, that is a pretty normal price over here. If the $ ever starts recovering, it'll be too much.

i just looked at that car on monday. i agree that $200k is light for any RS now, but it's not a remarkable car. the india red paint is showing inside the fenders, on the floor pan etc. no major accidents that i noted, but the front looks like it's been crunched some at least. the front deck does not fit properly at all, and the rear deck does not either. the paint is cracking/peeling in several places as well. basically an unremarkable RS in most respects. a fundamentally sound car to drive in my estimation, assuming it's mechanically sound. i still think it's a deal however. matching numbers as well.

Oh, yeah. I wonder what ever happened on that one. I seem to recall that he wanted to blame others for it, and there was perhaps some dubious reliance on his part on others when spending that kind of money.

Yep, and I have seen it advertised elsewhere for as low as $185k. There's got to be some issues other than the paint color to have that car sitting for so long without going home somewhere to stay.

This RS has a restamped, non-original case which I'm sure is the reason it has been for sale so long and is priced lower than others on the market.
