Need a source to get parts Cad plated in LA CA...
Any one have a good cad plater that is reputable in the LA area. Even better if near the South Bay Torrance area. I havn't been able to find any one who does the OEM goldish finish.

Cad plating may be difficult to find in California due to environmental concerns. You might try Astro in Van Nuys.
Astro Chrome & Polishing 15236 Erwin Street, Van Nuys, CA 91411 818-781-1463 and 818-781-1464, fax 818-781-1473, email info@astrochrome.com

I used Reid Metal Finishing (formerly Santa Ana Plating) in Santa Ana when I restored my 356. This was about 12 years ago so things may be different now. At that time their prices were fair and their quality was great. They didn't lose any of my parts either - I had hundreds of nuts / bolts and other engine fasteners plated.
I believe the gold cad is called CAD2. Reid Metal Finishing 3110 W Harvard St # 14 Santa Ana, CA 92704 (714) 549-3771 Gabe --------------------------------------------- '82 911SC Targa '61 356B Karmann Notchback |

Platers...
Pete,
What you want is a Type II cad. Here's a list of platers in the So. Cal area. You might check it out. Also I would suggest going by a good quality restoration shop and see who they use. http://www.thomasnet.com/southern-california/cadmium-plating-61520300-1.html When I take a lot of parts to the platers I'll make up an inventory and take a picture so everyone is on the same page. If you're plating any structural bolts or hardware be sure to have them baked. You can create hydrogen enbrittlement (sp) in the plating process and baking will neutralize it.

+1 for Reid. I used them a few years ago for a load of 914 fasteners and latches.
They told me that CAD was a problem in CA due to the EPA and that they were doing yellow zinc. It looks great and seems to be just as durable. I can post pictures of their finish next to CAD if interested. (I am actually about to send them another load of fasteners for plating.) Good luck, Coop Edit...What Mitch says about baking your structural bolts and springs is true. Reid informed me of this and baked my throttle return springs and other fasteners.

I would avoid Dixon, Prime, AAA, Omni & Bowman as the bulk of their work is aerospace & you will probably be charged accordingly. I use them & they are not cheap.
