please identify this 911

Hi,

I am new at this...so here goes.

I am being told that this is a 1982 911sc with a 4 speed gear box... is it euro spec? turbo?

Thanks for your help.

Kevin

its definitly not a turbo. Its the 3.0 engine. 4 speed? I dont think they made a 4 speed. It should be the 915 gearbox 5 speed.
seems like your salesman is trying to make a quik profit.

The only 4-speeds available were on the 930 (turbo 911).

Post the VIN number and a host of people will decipher it for you and give you advice on pricing.

looks like a Euro because of sidemarkers. doesnt look like a turbo and therefore should have a 915 transmission with 5-speed, not 4 speed. 930 transmission has 4-speed.

could someone have put a 930 transmission in the car?

It appears to have an '84-89 front valence, '85+ seats, RoW (Non-US) side marker lights and rear bumper pads.
Be careful, and if you're interested be sure to get it inspected by an independent party who knows 911s.

The front fender sidelights and narrow bumper blocks mark it as a euro. That is one weird A/C belt setup. There's no fuse/relay panel cover, no heater blower and ducting, and the sound pad is collapsing over the engine. My quick observations.

its possible the ignorant or unfamiliar sales person saw the "whale tail" and assumed its a turbo and the looked it up in a book for the specs.....4-speed, etc...

Its a real mix of parts, ROW car with US spec headlights, and a carrera front valance, the seats are actaully 1985 and earlier not later. 3.0 with the most odd AC belt system I have ever seen, someone mentioned that too. Wierd car.

Porsche offered a 4-speed 915.

Kevin, where was the car?

The fan on the decklid makes this a run Forest run car.

Who could get that confused with a turbo? There is a picture of the engine. lol "Turbo" is not a trim package, its indicative of an actual part. I think people just think turbo means fast.

And it's missing an Air Filter housing strap! Anyone who cares for a Porsche like this should not own one.

I'd stay away!

I just heard of a 915 4 speed too so evidently they do exist. 1st gears are exactly the same. Both last drive gears are the same but 2nd and 3rd are taller. would this be desireable for racing???

The car was in NJ....I did not think it was a turbo...but the 4 speed made me think, engine swap or something.
