Depends on when the car was produced in '71. There was a transition around March (I think?) of '72 from deep to flat six wheels.

Would not a 1971 911E have had the hydropneumatic front suspension with the 14-inch wheels as standard equipment? Were the normal torsion bar suspension and 15-inch wheels optional?
Frank (ex-1970 911E mechanic who converted it to torsion bars then married the owner and sold the 14s to a 914 owner then stupidly sold the E and spent the money on a new sewer line, but all that was years ago) |

According the spare parts catelogue for '71 the 6 X 15 wheels were standard for ROW cars both the E and S models. The 14" wheels were standard for the US E models, but 15" wheels could be ordered.
