Carrera Idle High

I finally got after it.

Idle was about 1200 and the ICV was doing nothing to help get the revs down.

I checked all the vacuum connections and they were all fine. The inlet gaskets were good as I had changed them a couple of years ago.

Head temp sensor checked out with the ohm meter and I jumpered the O2 sensor with a voltmeter and the oscillating voltage said the mixture was ok.

The ISC switch was ok, I could hear it and it checked out with an ohm meter.

Backed out the throttle stop screw and the revs stayed at 1200,

So I removed the throttle body, not difficult and had a good look at the throttle plate.

The viola moment came when I saw daylight by the side of the throttle butterfly and then noticed that the idle switch was not positioned correctly as it was effectively the stop for the throttle and did not allow the butterfly to close. The mixture bypassing the throttle was keeping the revs up.

We are now living happily ever after.
