Preliminary dyno numbers on the Beast

Got some preliminary dyno numbers today.

The 3.8 Beast put down 360 HP at the wheels on the dyno. More tuning has to be done both on the dyno and on the road. I did'nt get the torque numbers.

Figuring 15% loss..........that's approximatley 414 HP at the flywheel.

We'll be doing an official dyno run next week.

We were shooting for 425hp

More to come.

Mike,

I'm thinking I'm going to need alot of left seat time in that car when we are at the track...

My own car is only 200 hp

Thanks fellas,

Bill still feels he can extract a little more power. He's upset that we did'nt go with higher compression.

Tim.......you know you can take her anytime around any track.

Now the problem is going to be putting the power down to the ground.

I've got a feva and the only cure for it is more rubber!

Tach goes out to be converted to 10,000 rpm.

Damn! I wouldn't have thought an air-cooled NA engine could pull that.

What are the engine specs?

With that compression ratio, I take it this is a track only (i.e. race fuel only) car.

Holy cow Mike. That car is going to HONK!

Have a great July 4th weekend, I can't wait to see (and hear) this car in person.

Yeah, I wonder what an engine like that would do with 9.5 or lower CR. Could it then go single plug and still be over 300?

I have wondered about the idea of a lower CR engine built to the same specs.

The displacement should provide the torque needed to move along nicely.

I'll use race gas 101 minimum.

Hey John, I can't wait for you to hear it in person as well.

Bill took it out on the road for some testing. He said that in the 2k-3k rpm range it was not a happy engine. BUT......over 4500 rpms he said it was like someone lit a rocket.

And, around 6300 rpms it came alive even more and pulled hard all the way up to the seemingly non existant redline.

As mentioned before, the tach is going to be reworked to a 10K unit.

I was most taken by the sound of this engine. Very hairy.
