Carrera 3 cams Vs US 3.2 cams??

I'm wondering what the cam profiles are for the Carrera 3 cams and the US 3.2 cams. I'm digging through receipts, and it seems that when my engine was rebuilt, the rebuilder installed cams from a 3.2 instead of the original cams.

I'm not sure why, but then again this is my first Porsche and I'm slowly learning.

Thanks,

The lift & duration of all of the 3 and 3.2 liter n/a cams is the same. They all use the same cams.

The factory experimented a lot w/ the timing of the initial valve event, which is Intake opening.

'76 & 77 C3 used the most retarded timing spec for intake opening initiation @ 1* BTDC, retarding the cam timing theoretically helps top end hp

Some of the SC's used as much as 7* BTDC, advancing the cam timing theoretically helps bottom end torque

'84-89 Carrera 3.2 split the difference @ 4* BTDC

Thanks Bill. Once I get the car sorted and a few little things worked out I'll throw it on the dyno. I'll post up what it puts down. I was just curious once I read in this pile of receipts that they put in cams from a 3.2 during the engine rebuild.
