79 930 brake rotor hats

I am doing front brakes on a 79 930. The aluminum machined hats that bolts to the rotor at corroded away. What is the alternative to $530 each!

There's a company called VCI that sells the hats (http://www.vehiclecraft.com/Brakes/930_upgrade.htm). I think they're cheaper than $530 each.

Hey Rick, how's it going? Long time, no talk.

My pertinent question is what do people do about new parts for the calipers? Rebuild kits for 930 calipers seem to be NLA now for some time. How do folks keep these on the track or even street? If any one knows, I know some people looking.

Looks like our host sells them: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_BRKhyd_pg4.htm#item15

$78 per caliper front and $81 per caliper rear.

$408 and $378 = they have come down a little in price (one of the few things)

Hi Rick - I went through a similar stiuation. The PO of my floating rotors had machined off the lugs to create a 'solid' rotor. VCI was able to supply a set of T-nuts and I was able to restore the floating capacity - cheaper than buying a complete set of hats.
Regards,
Andrew M

Because it's shown in the catalog does not necessarily mean there is stock available. Might be, I don't know. Two weeks ago, there were none that I knew of and folks have been telling me the same situation has been the case for some time now.

Usually, if the part is NLA, Pelican says so. I know one thing, I won't speculate, so I won't say anymore.
