Do I have the wrong Ball Joints !

I have installed these and it looks like they are not correct. When the bolt is not tight, I can move the strut up and down.

These are original Boge strust and this is on a '71 911T.

It looks like the cutout is larger then it need to be for the bolt.

Thanks for any input.

Had the exact same problem on Monday. Did you get the 911.341.049.00 Ball Joints?

Thanks ! That make sense now. Now I have to get the right ones. At least I can use these for my '78.

Thanks for the help !

My problem was that even though I had the correct ball joints for my year, it seems some PO had changed the struts to a later year.

You can easily tell the difference ... if the ball joint shaft has a rounded relief, it take a bolt and the bottom of the strut will have a slit in it.

The ball joint in the pic has a wedge shaped cutout and takes the double taper pin. The bottom of the strut will not have a slit in it.

Thank you ! This makes sense now. I have the vertical slot at the bottom of the strut where the ball joint mounts, and the cutout should be round and the same radius as the bolt. When the bolt is tight it clamps the ball joint and the cutout and bolt holds it in position.

Thanks again
