I'm looking for some optionts to mount the 4 point harness in my '71 911 for AX.

Thanks

Here's how I mounted the harness in the rear of my '66. It's bolted through the package shelf and the bolts are backed by 2"x12"x3/8" steel bars.

Rich, I like your seats.

Could you post a pic of them and give me some details (model)?
Are they confortable?

BTW. I think I have the same seats as Rich. They are ST Rallye's. THey are very comfortable , and supportive. Also very light compared to my stock 69' seats.

Thanks Guys !

This is great ! Now I have some options, I Think I go with the option on top of the panel with the reinforcement from the bottom.

mph911, did your car had already some mounting holes in the bottom, or did you add some with reinforcement ?

I will post some pictures after I have istalled mine.

BTW: I had to modify the seat brakets from the corbau seats because they were to high. I cut them apart and insert a one inch spacer on front and a 1 1/2 " spacer at the rear side. Now its much better. I will post some pictures.

Thanks
Engelbert

Don't forget to check regulations especially if the car is going on the track. From memory over here the rear mounts must be below the horizontal but no more than 45 degrees below the horizontal. Don't have the rule book handy to check exact requirements. Even if the car is not going to be used on the track they list these sort of specs for a reason... "Safety". Mounting points on a rear parcel shelf have been known to tear the sheet metal if only a lower plate is used. Do some proper research.

Gotta love harnesses.

One other thing I recall from my vintage racing days...it was a requirement to have at least a 3" washer under the bolt. I didn't do that because I figured the 2"x12" bar would spread the load out over a wider area (I do have 3" washers under the belt bolts). It's not a perfect solution, but it's way better than the stock restraint system that would basically try to cut you in half.

These are PCA Club Race legal belts - they are six-point and the sub strap that you can't see mounts to the floor anchors with the lap belts. Car is a '69 912 updated to 2.2 liter 911E specs.

I'm amazed at how spacious the interior looks without a center console! I had mine out for a short while, but the look seems to fit an early car better...or a track car.

Right?.....
Actually, Schroth makes a 4-point belt (with their ASM designation) that is safe, as it is designed to lengthen one shoulder strap in a crash, which mimmicks the operation of a 3-point belt. Otherwise, I agree with you.

The belts shown attached to the rear shelf in the picture earlier in this thread might be better off if they were crossed. (That's a really nice looking car, by the way.) There are some excellent mounting instructions available from Schroth that should be required reading for anybody headed down this path. Look for them on the their web site. Here's a link:
