3 liter cams and oil pressure...

Two questions: 1) The oil pressure on my '77 Carrera 3.0 drops to an indicated zero at idle when hot (90 to 100 deg. C) I still get 4 bar when revving over 4000 rpm. Should I be alarmed? 2) Are Carrera 3.0 cams the same as later SC cams? Thanks! Bill

Bill, Without knowing what oil and viscosity you use, its tough to tell you anything definitive but offhand, I would not be alarmed with 4 bar @4K. SC & Carrera 3.0 cams are identical. They are simply timed differently.

I'm using 20/50 Castrol GTX. RE the pressure, I am concerned with the indicated 0 at idle when hot. So, the Carrera 3.O has cam timing for more top end power? Thanks, Bill

If it were my car, I'd ditch the Castrol GTX for Brad-Penn 20w-50.

Yes, go Brad Penn 20/50 I just did this a week ago, switching from Castrol GTX. Your engine will thank you. I was enlightened by Mr. Navarro's Ultimate Motor Oil thread.
