911 SC: still weird problem in 1th gear
Hi everybody
I have a small( ? ) problem with first gear on my '82 911 SC. When I put the car in first (which goes perfectly most of the time) and I drive away, it sometimes feels a bit like the engine shifts or something in the transmission does. There's a slight 'clunk' noticeable. I can really feel something shift. Even when just releasing the clutch and driving away using idle RPM (no throttle) it generated this sound/feeling (a bit softer). When the car is in first and I do not press the clutch and just play a bit with the throttle (on-off-on-off) there's also no 'clunking'. It also feels as if something clicks in place. None of the other gears, including reverse, have this problem. Maybe it's important to mention: I have a Rennshift with stomski coupler installed and the tranny/engine mounts have been replaced recently (yesterday) in a first attempt to counter this problem. Furthermore (and this is even more strange, i guess): it only happens when the engine is warm. When cold: no clunking. Any help would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks ! Tim |
