Hello everyone.
I'm new to Porsche's but I felt in love with this one the moment I saw it. The car is 912 as it says in the docs, but it was face lifted to a 930 turbo slant nose with a 2.4 motors from a 1972 model. So at first, I would like to ask what is the value of this car? What version of 2.4 engine do I have and how can I find out? Also, it's missing front left brake caliper. Would it be possible to use front brakes from a 86 turbo model? (rotors+calipers+other needed parts) So, here are the pic's ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

value is probably about that of a normal 912 - maybe more due to the 6 cyl. motor.
problem is that it is "all show and no go" which is not the way most 911 owners feel - most would likely want a hotrod that looks stock which is just the opposite I do like the interior door panel treatment and it looks to be in pretty good shape overall. post your engine # so we can tell you about it. What is is that you love about it? You might want to keep those pieces and sell off the rest. |

where to look for # number?
I love that turbo look, but I hate slant nose. Also it's MY65... And shell is in best possible condition, no rust nowhere! ![]()

I'd say value is less than a 912. These kinds of cars are frowned upon by 912 purists.....but to each, his own.

put the slant nose stuff on eBay - some body will buy it
replace with FG or used steel fenders and headlights search to answer your questions... the engine # will be on a vertical boss R of centerline and near the bumper I'd get the new brakes that are being made just now - soon to be avail. -- or put on Carrera rotors and calipers - not sexy but they work all this is if they fit the struts |

Hey, it is your car, if you love it that should be good enough.
If you haven't purchased it yet, then I would listen to the guys above because they do know a ton of stuff about these cars. Welcome to the forum!

Hard to say what the value is- cars in the US are generally priced a lot lower than, say, similar cars in the UK. If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for it?

I've paid around 8000usd for it. And I've been wondering what is the real value, as to my mind I got a steal
![]() Also I've ordered a strut tower bar, sway bars and some other minor stuff from the factory, like bits of interior and so on. So new questions again ![]() Are strut towers the same on all year cars? That is, on the ad they said, that strut tower bar will fit cars from 1969+, will it fit mine 1965? Bar is similar to this: Also where can I get some more info on the brake upgrade? Are struts different that you mentioned about clearance issue with carrera rotors+calipers? In Lithuania we have very few 911, somewhere about 10-15. So most likely I'll be getting brakes from 930 turbo. I do hope they fit ![]()

If the ad for the strut brace says it fits a 1969+ car then its best to believe it.
I have a 1967 with a plastic horn grille on one side (looks like crap). The PO bought a new chrome metal horn grille but it was for a 1969 to 1973 and doesnt fit my car - its too small! I wouldnt spend the money unless you know for 100% that it will fit. |

Assuming your car does indeed have a 2.4 liter engine, it is quite likely a euro 2.4 T as non-US 2.4Ts had carbs in lieu of mechanical fuel injection.
early911sregistry.com might be a good place to get more info, as I know they are always interested in MY65 cars ![]() However, if you do post there, brace yourself for comments on the modifications as some members are only fond of period correct or no mods.

As I know 911/912 ware not available in the US at year 1965, so maybe thats why it was listed at 69+ model? Dunno, I'm a Toyota/Lexus guy, so if you say it wont fit then I wont buy it ![]() Btw, is there any use from strut tower braces? Regading moding, well I want to stick with this car with minimum mods, and keep sleeper look. So no turbocharging, engine swaps, interior striping and so on.... Just some suspension mods and a full restoration job ![]()

I actually like the interior. The outside has a regrettable amount of blending done. The fenders are blended onto the cowl or so it appears in the picture and the rockers seem blended also. That makes removal very difficult and messy.
We did a conversion similar to this on a LWB 912, but with the standard turbo body look. We did it all in steel and the car also had an S-spec 2.4 in it. Frankly, it was much nicer than this car and the fella we did the work for just sold it for $8,000 including the three piece speedline wheels. The value of cars varies significantly by geography. That car in my market is probably 5-6K. Perhaps in your market it is 12K - I really dont know. In my market, a LWB 912 in good unmolested condition is 8-10K. The thing with old cars though is this: Do YOU like it? Obviously you do, and you had the money to buy it. It does not matter what the car is worth if you like it. I have several cars that I am into for much more than they are worth in my market. I don't care, I like them. My suggestion? Drive the heck out of it and have fun! angela

Yep, I do like the car very much. And I plan to keep it for a long time, but the car will need whole lot of the job to be perfect for me... Repaint, 930turbo front and so on...

No one has answered your brake ? so I'll give it a shot...
It depends on the caliper spacing of the front struts. It was either 3" or 3.5"... yes that is inches not a metric measurement... So, when you know what the distance between the caliper mounting bolts is we can better answer your question. Personally, with the 2.4 you probably don't need huge brakes, but if you want them to look correct with the turbo body that is a different thing. You may also look into wider wheels as you have a few inches to use up in the rear for sure.
