Weird turn signal problem....

New flasher did not cure the problem.

When using left signal, both rear blinkers flash at the same time just like if hazard lights are on. No blinking at all on the front lights.

When using right signal, no flashing at all at the back, but right front blinker works.

The flasher makes the correct sounds when using left or right signal.

Just found out that the brake lights dont come on either and only the left taillight comes on with the headlights.

My former mechanic (former as I moved 300 miles away) says that the turn signal stalk assembly should be my next move.

Any other ideas before I spring for the cash and find new curse words when attempting to replace the stalk assembly?

+1 on the grounds.

Add: Inspect all bulbs to see if they are the correct ones, check to see all bulb sockets are clean, check that all bulbs are seated correctly in the sockets.

Electric current likes the path of least resistance and a simple mismatch of bulb wattage can cause headaches.

The tail light problem would not be connected to the turn signal stalk, and neither would the brake lights--brake lights are more likely to be the pressure switches on the master cylinder.

Eliminate the possibility of bad grounds, bulbs, or connections first, as these could account for your problems and it is the easiest and cheapest first step.
