ring and pinion question

Hi all I need a 7.31 r& p and I found one but they are not a matching pair
does this matter for a race only trans? I was told that they could be noisier
but otherwise just as strong. Thanks Palmer

Race box?- Forget about the matching thing. The gears will probably have accelerated wear as they get accustomed to each other. They will make more noise during this process.

Race cars are noisey already and are examined/rebuilt much more frequently due to the increased demands and increased wear of racing speeds. The fact it is going in a race car means you don't need to worry.

I think (wonder) if it would still be quieter than a gearbox with straight-cut gears.
