windshield water pump

Hello, I have a 1995 Carrera 993 , my problem is my windshield water pump is not working but my windshield wipers are both working...I replaced the washer pump yesterday(I bought it from Pelican) and still nor working(not pumping water to the windshield) actually the old pump when I tested it, it was working but since I bought a new pump I replaced it anyway...Now, is there other things that I need to do? Is there a relay? Is there a separate fuse for washerpump itself? Or do I need to clean the terminal switch of the windshield switch and how can I do it...Could you give suggestions on what to do? Thanks you very much...

It sounds like the pump is running but no water is getting to the windshield. Is that correct or does the pump fail to run?

If you can hear the pump running and nothing is coming out the 1st thing to check to see if there is fluid in the tank. I am assuming you knew to do that. The next step is to look at the check valves. They are small white plastic one way valves up near the squirter nozzles. That check valve tends to get clogged with age. You can remove them and see if they are plugged. You will want the valves in place because they keep the water in the hoses. Without them the pump takes a couple of seconds to fill the hoses and then squirt the windshield. Ask me how I discovered that.

You may well need a well trained gorilla around to get the hoses to let go of the valves. The hoses tend to bond to the valves.

Thanks for reply, actually the pump is not running ever since that is why I replaced it and I thought it was but is not...The old pump when I tested it from the battery, its running perfectly... the valves are not clogged(for sure because I used seringes to pump it and is not clogged). Is there anything else what to do? Thanks

It is probably the fuse. I don't know much about the 993s so I can's help you much.
