Grainger Retrofit - Supplemental Data
First of all, Iwould like to thank the original poster for this upgrade.
Anyway, due to the morning becoming colder, I have decided to perform the upgrade. As a supplement and reiteration to the previous upgrades: 1. When installing the fan, insert it about 1/8" further in (i.e., not flush). This extra play will ensure that the fan will not run against the screw that holds plastic tube to the fan housing. 2. As a reminder, the red is the negative and the black is positive. 3. While at the hardware store, I have decided to buy a longer bolt (about half an inch longer) to replace the bolt that secures the metal band together. 4. I am no engineer and was afraid that the fan would slip off the shaft. So as an extra precaution, I notched the shaft a little so that when I tighten the screw, it would have a 'trench' to dig in. 5. With a little bending, I was able to "not" remove a blade. Using a screwdriver, I was able to bend one of the blades and when I was done drilling and tapping the boss, I was able to bend it back. 6. So what do I do with the extra 2 bushings I bought? ![]() This board rocks!!!!!! |
