Are solid engine mounts hard on our cars? Meaning that after a bit of time in the car, will they weaken the metal structure of the mounting area on the chassis? Is there anything that can be done to reinforce the area before installation?
What do you guys think the biggest benefits of running these on my street/DE car would be? Does anyone have experience with these? The application would be in a 3.2 Turbo Thanks....................................C

The benefits are minor. As the chassis twists, and the engine rotates, the solid mounts allow your shifter to maintain a more-consistent alignment with your tranny. On a track car, they make sense, since you're presumably checking nuts and bolts very regularly anyway. I believe the guys who make PMO carbs hate them; they think the added vibration does more harm than good.
The Wevo ones look like a great product. I wish they'd been available when I was building my car. I used to have solids in back and Club Sport mounts on the tranny. Now, I have Club Sport mounts all around. If you put solid mounts up front on the tranny, you're going to get a LOT of noise in the cabin.

I disagree with Jack. I had clubs mounts on my car and went with solids and the difference was tremendous. No work was done on my transmission or the shift linkage when the switch to solids occurred, so I have an adequate baseline on which I can say my car shifted phenomenally better not to mention felt more responsive in turns once the solids were installed. Vibration? Yes. You know they're there. But that's also indicative of how hollow your interior is and how much sound deadening you have. when it all comes down to it, either you like vibration or you don't. I happen to like it.

Im not so much concerned with interior noise, in fact I happen to prefer to be able to hear that cool whining sound from the gear box. I think it puts you more in tune with the mechanics of your car. Lets you hear whats really goin on in there ya know? (LOL)
So overall it sounds like shifting performance is the biggest benefit and noise is the only draw back. The question still remains though on the stress issue. Is this something to be concerned about on a mild to moderate use DE car. I dont want to weaken the chassis of the car from doing this. Thanks for all the info........................C P.S. can someone give a link to where I can find the WEVO mounts? I still have not made up my mind.

See Wevo's stuff here. You can buy the parts through Pelican. The motor mounts are here.
Just so you're informed, here's a thread on PMO's warning about solid mounts. Steve Weiner recommends against using them on anything but a dedicated race car. All that said, I used them for a long time. I just didn't notice much of an improvement with them, and it made the car louder.

Found a pic and info here on Pelican about the semi solid mounts. I have decided to do the solid mounts. I might as well post the pic for other readers. Here is the difference in build.

I have used solid mounts with my PMOs for the past 2 years without any trouble. Shifting is great.... Expecially in those mid chicane High RPM upshifts form 3rd to 4th. You have no worries about what gear you are jamming it into.

What do you think of your decision to go with the solid mounts now that it has been a few years? Do you have any vibration or metal fatigue problems with them? I want to make the same solid vs semi-solid decision. Art

i have solids on the motor and tranny, replacing 20+ year old factory. I got improved shifting and improved "sound system" in the cabin.
The sound impact is no trivial. I installed Borla in place of stock muffler yesterday and feel almost no difference in sound. the cabin becomes way noisy with the solid mounts than with said loud mufflers. .02 from my experience...
