Potential Charlotte Engine Drop "party"

Don't get your hopes up, not exactly anytime soon. But, it appears I'm going to have to drop my motor to address some increasingly pesky (car is now indefinetly parked) oil leaks. It's not going to be in the next week or two for sure, but I don't want to wait forever either. So, I'm just trying to guage interest/availability over the next month or so. I will certainly provide the the liquid encouragement and Taste of Buffalo Pizza (best in CLT if you haven't had it) for anyone that's willing to lend a hand, or possibly tool.

Cheers,
Todd

No drop experience, but I might be able to lend a hand. Let me know when you decide on a date.

I have a good amount of experience with cars, and I've installed the engine in my car just this past spring.

I can definitely help you out with anything Porsche related.

I'm not sure where you are located, but I live right near the speedway.

I believe I'm planning on doing this either the weekend before Labor Day weekend (so 23rd or 24th) or maybe the Sat before Labor day (which may be a harder weekend to get help). I'm trying to wrap up a couple project around the house that will free up some space in my garage.

Jeff, I'm not to far from the speedway myself. If I take the back roads (ridge, etc) I'm about 15 minutes from the track, closer to WT Harris and 77.

Thinking of leaving the tranny in....

I'm all for whatever is easiest. You guys are the experts. I wanted inspect the clutch while it was out (no reason to suspect issue's, but figured while it was out) andlook at the flywheel seal, but I guess it's just as easy to separate them on the ground- easier even.

once you have the engine down - 4 nuts and you walk the transmission off and you now have easy access to the clutch

to see the seal though you will need new flywheel bolts - clutch centering tool

I am available for help on the weekend of Aug 23-24. I can even help on that Friday. I am out of town for Labor day weekend.

Send me a PM for my contact info.

I can also stop over at some point before then to walk through the drop if you want.

Ok, unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts on my end, it looks like the Sunday of Labor Day weekend is going to be the best bet for the drop. I realize this will be a bad weekend for most folks, but I do have 1 or 2 that can make it, and it is about the only upcomming time that I can do it.

I'll probably need some help putting it back too (will be weeks later, but really want it back in by mid Oct.).

Todd
