Alternatives to Mobil and Redline for a G50 w/LSD gear
Hi from Madrid (Spain)
![]() Tomorrow I'll take my "new" '88 3.2 to the garage to change the gear lube. As all of you always say, the best option for a G50 tranny would be the synthetic Mobil Delvac or Redline, but I can't find them here in Spain. Could you please tell me any good alternative?? (please, take into account that my G50 has LSD). In the my garage they tell me Castrol TAF-X, but I'm not sure Castrol is ok for a LSD box. Are all the synthetic gear oils good for G50-LSD gear? On the other hand, the Castrol is GL-4+ instead of GL-5, is this very important? Thanks!!

I remember the problems of finding products when I worked in Europe...
I have not tried it but I understand that "Motul Hypo Syntetic LS" is good. You may want to look into it... You may be able to find it at a BMW dealer.

SHC now renamed Delvac might be available at a shop that specializes in over the road trucks or construction equipment.
besides SHC/Delvac factory recommended fills were Veedol SAF44 oder Castrol SAF-XJ
