Light problem

Hi folks,
Anyone know about the Defrost Max light on the Air blower control box on the
dash? Can't figure out why its not getting power. Does the slide come into contact
with that junction just over the slide? 1977 Targa......

Are you saying that the light itself doesn't have power, or that the fan doesn't?

The light itself is just a basic dash light, it also illuminates the ashtray. You can remove the ashtray and access the lightbulb directly. It should be lit whenever the dash lights are on.

Thanks for the reply.
This light is on the bottom right of the blower panel. It is not like the other
3 on the panel. It has 2 wires that lead to the blub. Red/yellow and black.
The wires then run to a housing that has these 2 wires soldered and a green
one. On the solder joint of the red/yellow, a piece of metal protrudes out. With a
meter I checked the wires and they are fine. (Who put this housing in??? A elf???)
I can barely see whats going on! So I wonder if the slide (defrost) that you slide
to the right makes some kind of connection to this housing to complete a circuit
for the light to come on. (The housing is metal on the bottom.) All other lights work and the ashtray light. Blower is also ok.

My lights are falling out. They are a complete b@stard to get at. I can't be bothered to fix them. Too hard. I'll give you $10 to fix mine when you figure out how to do it....

Hello All,
Tip on repairing light in dash panel.
3 of the lights are in fact go with the dash lights.
Over time these come loose from the connector.
I use a tiny screw driver and carefully close the gap on each side.
Insert light and check light. (turn on the lights) If no power try to wiggle the
light before inserting into the front cover. Hopefully this works. Before you insert
light in to cover, use just a tiny drop of super-glue on the plastic light holder (you can buy a delivery for glue at a hobby shop. A small tube that goes on the end of
the super-glue.) This method keeps the light in and with such a small amount of glue, it will break away if you need to change the light again.
The fan light is attached to a slide connection. If the 2 pins do not make contact to this slide connection, the fan will not work. Overtime, this connection gets very
dirty. I used rubbing alcohol with a FOAM swab. Do not use a regular Q-tip. The cotton fiber will attach to the sliding pins underneath. Clean the metal contact on the slide (the flat piece.) Turn the key, to the 2nd notch and check to see if your fan works. If it does, turn the key off and reinstall fan. After you install check again and that should do it.
